Most Excellent Moments in Dance
I've never actually seen this movie, but I have known about this dance number for awhile. I still can't quite believe that it's real. Oh, Gene Kelly, you shiny-toothed, muscular-thighed maverick, you.
Now this one is possibly my favourite number from my favourite musical and favourite overall film of all time. I especially like the last 20 seconds when it just gets completely bizarre. Although, I was just thinking that the whole number really highlights the similarities between dancing, especially tap, and poetry; the rhythm, the way the whole body is involved in getting a message across, in invoking a feeling through specialized, other-than-everyday means and making that, and this is the beauty of musicals, something that is everyday.
You cannot fault the comedic genius of Donald O'Connor here either.

Great Moments in Dance IV
When my family first bought a computer, that wasn't just a black screen with bright green text, it came with a Windows '95 CD that had this on it:
The only games we had on it were Golf and that quiz one that played medieval music on Encarta '95 (actually, I played that one a lot), so apart from trying to make perfect circles and consistent spray can work on Paint, I spent a lot of time watching this and wondering how the hell they did it. They were on the set of Happy Days! How?! Plus I had not experienced this kind of alternative rock music before and boy, did I find it rockin'? Yes, I did.
And I only remembered that I really liked this band during the credits for Drillbit Taylor.*
Up until the last few moments the dancing is nothing really special, but here are some points worthy of note:
0:10
1:10
1:26 (I used to watch this bit over and over and over and over and over again. I still quiver a little.)
1:57
2:27
2:41
2:47
Of course, it isn't really the same watching it without the preamble: Arnold's is proud to present... Kenosha Wisconsin's own... Weezer!
*It was alright.

Greats Moments Somewhat Related to Dance I
The best thing about this is the argument that happens a little way into the comments section and is then RESOLVED. And with a certain level of maturity.
It makes me feel like everything is right in the world.

Great Moments in Dance III
This little lady is such a hero. She is so cool. She is singing about how those guys in the background should give her a hammer (which they do) to wop people on the head who annoy her or don't like rock and roll. She would also like to smash the telephone because her Mum is going to call her on it soon and tell her to come home. But don't worry coz we're going to have a great party with like-minded people and all be friends. What a message. And what great moves.
Just to reinforce the point:
She is singing about how the tomato and potato live together. I think. I want one of those pant suits, hey.

Flickrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
hasn't been working lately. Every time I go to the upload thingie, the interenet breaks. By that I mean the window just closes and a thing asks me if I want to report it to Apple. I do. And I do.
Anyway, here's a picture that proves the maxim "you have to put up with the rain to get a rainbow" or whatever.

Great Moments in Dance II
Did you know if you type the words, "Great moments in dancing history," into YouTube, this is what you get:
This is the "More Info" given by the films maker, Chrispwns89: "i'm tired of idiots trying to get me to go to Prom, so I made a video demonstrating the correct way to dance."
Well, fucking kudos to you, Chrispwns89. Let your art speak volumes.
Also great use of the theme from Chariot's of Fire.
